This may be your first Thanksgiving since your recent divorce and you
may be facing the start of the holiday season alone.

Your first year of being alone and divorced can be rough as you come across
all the holidays you experienced as a couple.

The holidays are times when memories come flooding back.

They are days we clearly remember where we were and who we were with and what we were doing.

Traditions were established as a couple are now being broken up.

If you’re lucky you have your family or friends to spend time with and give thanks.

For some of us, we face the holidays alone.

I’ve spent many holidays at homes of friends and I’ve even spent time with strangers.

I’ve hiked up the mountain with my dog and ate a turkey sandwich on Thanksgiving.

I’ve spent a lot of them alone.

This year is especially interesting for us due to the Covid epidemic.

Getting together is challenging for all.

If you let it, facing the holidays alone can hurt.

The sense of loss of relationships can overwhelm you.

It’s okay to be sad……it’s okay to cry.

However, being sad for too long is a lot of wasted time.

It just doesn’t change your reality.

You can make this day special to you.

Remembering what you truly are thankful for, starting new traditions.

You can still have all your favorite Thanksgiving dishes
and you get Plenty of leftovers   ……

There are many things to still be thankful for…

Keep in mind you have many more good days and memories to make
as you move toward your new future.

You’ll get through this, you’ll be okay.

Happy Thanksgiving

You got this….
