When you are new to being the sole person

responsible for the upkeep of a home,

and when something breaks down,

This can create an anxious energy spin…..

“I don’t know what to do,”

“I don’t know who to call,”

“I don’t know who to trust,”

“What will it cost?”

Not fun energy.

I’ve been there.

You can reduce a lot of this angst

when you have your “people” in place.

People like a handyman, pool person,

appliance person, electrician……

Your “trusty” list of people

you call when crap happens.

This week I noticed green algae in my pool.

Something’s not working.

I knew where to look.

My salt generator was not producing chlorine.

Why?

Here’s where you could call your handy pool person.

I’m handy, so I knew the first steps.

It required getting my salt cell tested.

I did.  It failed.

I trusted the results, as it was tested at

a pool supply house.

The cell needed to be replaced.

Salt cells are expensive.

Another reason to have a trusted person

is to check out costs.

Be Smart Ladies

The store owner who walked my cell

down to the supply store shared,

he could get me a new cell “at his cost”.

I know what cells cost as I’ve replaced them before…..

And I checked the price before I got the cell tested.

He doubled the cost of the actual salt cell

and that didn’t include labor.

I got to thinking, if you are new at this,

you wouldn’t know this was an outrageous quote.

Or if you had to call just any pool person

you might not know what would be a fair cost.

All you want is your pool fixed

to get rid of all that anxiety.

Get rid of the algae.

I get it.

If you have your people in place first,

you would know who to call ….to verify the cost….

Even if you need a pool person to repair

your pool, you want to trust that

he’s fair and reputable.

Having these people in place

before you need them,

reduces that emotional distress.

You call, it’s done.

No scurrying to find someone.

Best place to find good people

are referrals from friends.

You start there.

If you aren’t satisfied, you look for another.

It so helps to have that list before you need it.

Who needs more stress?
